The Certification Process

All Earth Advantage administered certification programs begin with a kick-off meeting to review and plan for the measures that will need to be completed for your project to earn certification. Projects then undergo a series of inspections to verify that all measures have been properly implemented. Finally, we'll review any energy modeling required by the program and issue the final reports needed to obtain final certification.

Additional Services

Energy Bill Guarantee

We’re confident that Earth Advantage certified homes will save your clients money on their energy bills. With our Energy Bill Guarantee program, we’ll reimburse homeowners for the cost of energy use beyond that estimated by the home’s energy modeling for up to three years. Homeowners can submit a claim here.

Duct Leakage Testing

We offer testing to determine the air tightness of a home’s air distribution system for ducts in both conditioned and unconditioned space. Tests use either a duct blaster machine or a blower door depending on the location of the ducts.

Thermal Imaging

Our staff can use thermal imaging cameras to identify insulation and air sealing gaps in the building envelope that could lead to heat loss and moisture problems.

Builder & Trade Partner Training

Our team can provide onsite training and guidance as needed during inspections to help ensure compliance with green building certification programs. We’re also available to provide in-depth training for builders, developers, and subcontractors on building science concepts, green building concepts, and energy efficiency measures.

HVAC Design

We can provide space conditioning equipment and duct layout designs based on the ACCA Manual J, D & S standards.

Additional Energy Modeling

Our team can provide energy modeling during  project’s design stage in order to determine the best path towards compliance for a given program or incentive. We can provide models for:
  • RESNET Home Energy Rating System (HERS)
  • 45L Federal Tax Credit
  • State energy code compliance
  • LEED, Earth Advantage and Energy Star certification programs
