CakeSystemsâ„¢ Partners with Building Performance Institute Rating Program

May 1, 2014

Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) April 29, 2014

Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) announced last February the launch of a national rating program to provide customers in existing homes with an affordable, easy to understand rating of their home that can be combined with a comprehensive home energy audit. BPI is pleased to announce that it has been accepted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as a Home Energy Score Partner, and will use the Home Energy Score as BPI's rating tool. To support this data-intensive effort, BPI needed a software partner to manage the collection and data storage for this new nationwide program. BPI chose to utilize CakeSystems for multiple reasons. First, BPI will use the CakeSystems Dashboard to serve as the nationwide database repository of Home Energy Scores for its program. Dashboard provides a simple way to track quality assurance and Home Energy Scores at a site-level, as well as providing advanced ad hoc reporting functionality. Second, CakeSystems will streamline the data collection process for BPI raters who produce Home Energy Scores and submit them to BPI for quality assurance and processing. Additionally, for BPI Raters who need more functionality than simply generating Home Energy Scores, such as generating comprehensive reports, producing proposals, or mobile app access, they can choose to purchase additional functionality from CakeSystems directly, avoiding time consuming double data entry. BPI plans to allow a wide variety of software data collection options that comply with national data standards, and CakeSystems can support that process.

This new BPI program will expand the number of Home Energy Score Qualified Assessors nationwide. BPI certified professionals are highly qualified building performance professionals already in customers' homes throughout the country performing energy audits and installing energy efficiency measures. Customers deserve the benefit of BPI certified professionals' expertise when getting their homes audited and scored. Based on nationwide demand, BPI decided to launch a national program for raters, to complement existing energy audit and home performance services for existing homes. Tiger Adolf, director, program design and market development at BPI said, “Home Performance Contractors aren't in the business to spend all day typing and uploading forms. We want to encourage a broad, market-based choice of software that can meet all of their needs and ours with the push of a single button. CakeSystems will help eliminate redundant data entry and repetitive uploads while supporting our ability to monitor, track and manage the rating program.”

The BPI rating program goes beyond just labeling a home with a number. When your company becomes a BPI GoldStar Company with Rater Staff, you can provide full turnkey services, from the Home Energy Score to comprehensive diagnostic assessment and installation of the improvements recommended for the existing home. The BPI GoldStar Contractors with raters on staff may use CakeSystems or other advanced modeling software that complies with BPI data standards and suits their business style to provide not only the Home Energy Score, but also an enhanced recommendations report, work scope, and options tailored to the customer's home and personal goals.
